The Bench is yours
By the rowing club in Søndre Havn Hammerstrøm, Bjerre and Walton set up the basis structure for a bench with the inscription: ‘The bench is yours please continue building it’. Hereby the citizens are invited to carry on building the bench – with all kinds of wood and materials they can find. The project will be kick started with a ‘Bench & Picnic’ day where the first nails will be put in the bench during a building workshop and a community surrounding the city’s new bench can start growing. During the exhibition period families and schools are encouraged to visit the bench and continue the building of it. From the bench you have a view to the harbour entrance and to the tankers that often pass by.
29 April, 11-15:
A Bench and Picnic: The artists Ditte Hammerstrøm, Claus Bjerre and Jeremy Walton encourage everyone to bring their picnic basket, family, old panels and firewood – and help build a unique meeting place for the harbour.
